> Gurman puts the Apple glasses reveal at WWDC 2027 with release late that year, delayed in part by privacy work aimed squarely at the reputation Meta has earned.

Apple plans to unveil its first smart glasses at WWDC in June 2027, with a consumer release by the end of that year, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Codenamed N50, they had been meant for a late 2026 reveal and an early 2027 launch. Gurman says Apple is prototyping "a slew of new hardware and software-related privacy features" that no current Apple product has, and that the marketing will lean on the comparison with rivals like the [Ray-Ban Meta](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-ray-ban/roadmap)s.

Meta shipped first and taught the public what a camera on a face means, so Apple now has to sell privacy to people who already formed a view. A year of extra engineering buys on-device processing and a refusal to run facial recognition. It does not buy back the association, and Apple will be arguing against a reputation rather than a specification.
