# Apple wants its glasses to be health devices, just not yet

Apple wants its glasses to work as health and fitness devices, Mark Gurman reported in Power On. During Vision Pro's development Apple weighed a native version of Fitness+, where the headset's motion sensors would watch your form through a class, and scrapped it because the headset was too heavy to wear through a workout. Its Vision Products Group is now hiring a strategic product design leader to "define the future of health, well-being and fitness experiences across vision products," and wants someone who has validated digital health products before.

Gurman expects the capabilities to arrive over years rather than at the debut, and the first glasses are still expected late in 2027. The evidence today is a job posting. Apple turned earbuds into a hearing aid the same way, through a software update and a regulatory filing years after the hardware went on sale.
