Apple's first glasses carry two camera lenses, and they do different jobs. One is high resolution and shoots photos and video you can use the way you use iPhone shots. The other is lower resolution and dedicated to computer vision, the same class of technology inside Vision Pro, per [Bloomberg](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-02-17/apple-ramps-up-work-on-glasses-pendant-and-camera-airpods-for-ai-era).

That second lens is what gives Siri something to look at, feeding visual input from whatever sits in front of you. A wide-angle version of it reading hand gestures was reported in April 2026. [Mark Gurman](https://9to5mac.com/2026/04/30/sketchy-rumor-suggests-apple-glasses-will-support-vision-pro-style-hand-gestures/) wrote that he has "heard nothing to suggest the first version has any sophisticated form of gestures."

The camera lenses are vertically oriented ovals with lights around them, a break from the circle Meta uses on Ray-Ban. None of it has been shown in public, and the release window is late 2027.
