# Apple Vision Pro used in hundreds of surgeries as a live medical tool

## What happened

A New York eye doctor just completed the first cataract surgery ever performed using a mixed reality headset. Dr. Eric Rosenberg from SightMD used the Apple Vision Pro to see clearly inside a patient's eye during the delicate operation. After finishing the initial surgery back in October 2025, the doctor has since performed hundreds more.

## Our take

Dr. Eric Rosenberg at SightMD has now performed hundreds of cataract surgeries using Apple Vision Pro. That is not a proof of concept anymore. But clinical validation, the independent studies that confirm a new technique is actually safe at scale, has not kept pace with how fast surgeons are adopting it. Apple's medical credibility now depends on outcome data that nobody has published yet.
