> Gurman reports Series 12 and Ultra 4 are in late-stage testing with faster chips and no design change, and puts a real rethink another year or two out.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple is in "late-stage testing" for the [Apple Watch Series 12](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/apple-watch/roadmap), in Wi-Fi and cellular, alongside the Ultra 4. Both are expected in September with faster performance and improved health tracking, and both are expected to look like the Series 11 and Ultra 3 sitting beside them. No new SE is planned this year, which follows from the SE 3 arriving last year rather than from any change of direction.

Gurman also says work is under way on a bigger rethink of the watch but does not expect it for another year or two, and that blood-sugar detection is still aimed at sometime later this decade, on a project dating to the Jobs era. Four outlets carried this inside two days and each chose a different edge: Engadget said a new look is at least a year away, AppleInsider said not for years. One newsletter, four horizons.
