# Apple's own EU label confirms the iPhone Duo's 4,883mAh battery

The [iPhone Duo](https://idevice.com/phones/iphone-fold/roadmap) has a 4,883mAh battery. Apple listed that total on an EU energy label it published on Friday, which [MacRumors spotted](https://www.macrumors.com/2026/10/18/iphone-duo-battery-capacity/) on Sunday.

It's the same number that leaked in July. Regulatory filings surfaced then by the Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station showed two cells, one in each half of the phone: 2,962mAh on one side and 1,921mAh on the other. Apple's label gives only the total, and it matches the leak exactly.

A book-style foldable is two thin slabs joined by a hinge, with a 5.4-inch screen on the outside and a 7.6-inch one inside, and each slab has to carry its own share of the battery. Apple has stuck with ordinary lithium-ion cells, Tom's Guide reported, rather than the silicon-carbon cells some rivals use to fit more capacity into the same thickness. That leaves the Duo below most book-style foldables on sale, with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold the exceptions.

The Duo is eSIM-only in every country, so no model gives up space to a SIM tray and no market gets a smaller battery. What Apple printed on the EU label is what ships everywhere.

iFixit's teardowns found a 4,288mAh battery in the [iPhone 18 Pro](https://idevice.com/phones/iphone-pro/roadmap) and 5,567mAh in the iPhone 18 Pro Max. That puts the Duo about 600mAh ahead of the smaller Pro and nearly 700mAh short of the bigger one. If you're choosing between the Duo and a Pro Max, the Pro Max still has the larger battery by a clear margin.

Samsung's Fold 8 is much closer. It has a 4,800mAh battery, which leakers had right before it launched, and that's within 2% of the Duo. On capacity alone, the two biggest names in book-style foldables are a near tie.

A capacity figure doesn't tell you how long the Duo lasts in a day. That depends on how much time you spend with it open on the big inner screen rather than closed on the outer one, so the first full reviews after launch are the test that counts.

Orders placed now [ship weeks after launch](https://idevice.com/iphone-duo-orders-placed-now-ship-in-late-november), and Apple Stores [expect no walk-in stock](https://idevice.com/apple-stores-expect-no-walk-in-iphone-duo-stock-on-launch-day) when the phone goes on sale on October 23. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple built enough stock to launch but expects supply to stay limited. If you were holding off on ordering until the battery size was settled, it now is, and the number comes from Apple itself.
