> The watch that listens all day needs a paired iPhone, holds to daily limits Apple will not state, and arrives in beta.

Apple hasn't posted a support article for Live Rewind, so what is known about it comes from the [Series 12](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/apple-watch/roadmap) product page and the press release. Double-press the Digital Crown and the last 15 seconds of the conversation come back as a text snippet. The audio behind that snippet never leaves a dedicated compartment on the chip. "This is because the S11 chip on Apple Watch Series 12 includes Secure Exclave, a dedicated hardware-isolated compartment that processes audio in complete isolation from the rest of the system, then immediately deletes it," Apple said.

[The Mac Observer](https://www.macobserver.com/tips/round-ups/how-to-use-live-rewind-apple-watch-series-12/) found the shipping conditions on the same pages: beta in late 2026, a paired iPhone running Apple Intelligence, and daily usage limits Apple has not published. Sound Recognition, the alert half of Audio Intelligence, is not initially available in the EU. The Ultra 4 gets the same features and the same Secure Exclave. The screens may look different once watchOS 27 ships on September 14, and [what Audio Intelligence actually does](https://idevice.com/the-new-watches-can-replay-the-last-15-seconds) we covered on announcement day.
