> Bloomberg puts founder Zhang Yiming personally on the project, built on ByteDance's Seedance model, with a launch window as early as next month.

ByteDance is preparing an AI model that generates spatial video in real time.

Spatial video is footage with depth in it, the kind you watch inside a headset rather than on a flat screen. Bloomberg reported the project. Founder Zhang Yiming is personally overseeing it as it nears launch, and people familiar with the work put that as soon as next month.

The model is being built on Seedance, ByteDance's existing generator for cinematic video, and the target is closer to Google's Genie. Genie does not produce finished clips. It builds interactive virtual environments on the fly, and it can simulate a physical space well enough for an AI agent to move around inside it.

Zhang is described as seeing this as the piece that links ByteDance's AI models and cloud computing to the places its content actually lands. That means TikTok, and it means Pico Interactive, the headset maker ByteDance owns.

Pico spent this month not announcing a headset.

The company pulled the reveal of its Vision Pro competitor, the Space Pro, saying it wanted more time on a major upgrade to the software. It still says the headset arrives in Q4. Q4 starts on October 1, and a generative video model is due in roughly the same window.

Parts are the other pressure on that date. Memory and storage prices have climbed hard through the global shortage, Qualcomm's chips are reported to be following them up, and Valve's [Steam Frame](https://idevice.com/head/steam-frame/roadmap) is chasing the same supply for a standalone headset of its own.
