> The new trends need Google Health Premium. Workout detection also jumps from 10 activities to over 100, which fixes the Air's biggest complaint.

Google is bringing two Health Guardian features from the Pixel Watch 5 to the [Fitbit Air](https://idevice.com/fitness-trackers/fitbit-air/roadmap): blood pressure trends and insulin resistance trends, delivered as monthly summaries. They don't diagnose anything. They're meant to show a trend worth taking to a doctor. You'll need Google Health Premium, which comes free for three months with a new Air or Edge and is included in the $20-a-month Google AI Pro plan, per [Android Headlines](https://www.androidheadlines.com/2026/10/fitbit-air-is-getting-blood-pressure-and-insulin-resistance-tracking.html).

Without a screen, the Air can't start a workout unless you pull out your phone, and owners said it missed a lot of them. Google says better detection was the top request it heard from Air owners. Its engineers wrote a new motion model that also weighs your location and routine, and the Air now recognizes over 100 activities, up from 10, including fast sports like tennis. Google says that cuts missed workouts by more than half. The same detection is coming to Pixel Watch models, with updates due later this month, as [Android Authority](https://www.androidauthority.com/fitbit-air-activity-detection-3721624/) reported.
