> If you kept the classic Fitbit app to dodge Google Health, that workaround is ending, and badges, the Community Feed and messages don't come with you.

Fitbit owners who kept an old copy of the app installed are now hitting an update screen they can't get past. [Gadgets & Wearables reported the prompts over the weekend](https://gadgetsandwearables.com/2026/10/11/fitbit-holdouts-forced-google-health-update/), and updating means moving to Google Health, which replaced the Fitbit app on May 19. Google had said [builds older than version 5.0 would lose support in July](https://www.androidauthority.com/fitbit-old-app-forced-google-health-update-3721759/). They kept working for months anyway.

Google hasn't announced a cutoff, and some users can still dismiss the prompt for now. Others say their old builds have started failing to sync some health metrics. Badges, the Community Feed, direct messages and the Sleep Profile animals are all gone in Google Health, which is why some people never moved. Custom food logging came back in July, and Google has improved the sleep displays since. For anyone still on the classic app, the choice is now Google Health or another platform.
