> Owners don't have to wait: Update all in the watch's Play Store pulls the fix down as soon as it reaches their account.

Google is rolling out a fix for the battery drain that has hit [Pixel Watch](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/google-pixel-watch/roadmap) owners over the past week. It arrives as app updates, not a new watch software release, and Google told Android Authority the rollout will finish over the next couple of days.

Owners first noticed it when their watches started dying far sooner than they should. A watch sitting mostly idle was lasting about 12 hours. The drain showed up on several Pixel Watch generations at the same time, and it started overnight rather than building up slowly.

A failing battery doesn't turn up on every generation in the same week, while a background service or a Wear OS app behaving badly can. Google had already said a fix was in the works. Now it has confirmed the fix is going out, and that it ships through the Play Store.

A Google spokesperson said the issue affected "a small number of Pixel Watch users." The company gave the steps to get the fix now: press the crown on your Pixel Watch, open the Play Store app, and tap Manage apps, then Update all.

You don't have to wait for the staged rollout to reach you. Running Update all by hand pulls down the new app versions as soon as they're available for your account.

Google hasn't named the app that caused it. If you're curious, look at which apps update on your watch over the next two days. One of them is the culprit.

If your watch was dead by the evening and it's back to its usual runtime after the updates, you had the bug and the fix worked. Google says the rollout will be complete in a couple of days, so any watch still draining after that is worth a second Update all.

Because the fix is an app update, there's nothing to wait on from a full watch software release, and nothing points to a hardware fault. Anyone thinking about buying a Pixel Watch can treat this as a software bug that Google has already fixed, not a flaw in the watch itself.
