> If you use Google Wallet on your wrist, the $124 Charge 6 is the better buy, since the $179 Edge can't pay at all.

The Fitbit Edge [goes on sale October 27](https://idevice.com/google-s-179-99-fitbit-edge-ships-october-27-with-a-battery-you-can-replace), and it has no NFC chip, so Google Wallet won't work on it at all. Android Police asked Google why. According to Google, fewer than one percent of active Charge 6 users regularly set up or used wrist payments, so it [put features people asked for more often first](https://www.androidheadlines.com/2026/10/fitbit-edge-nfc-safety-features.html). Fall detection and automatic emergency calls are missing too. Google keeps those on the Pixel Watch and says they need LTE and Wi-Fi hardware that won't fit in the Edge's slim, cheaper body. Sleep breathing metrics aren't there yet either, and Google says it's looking at adding them in a software update.

The Google Health app lets you pair two Pixel wearables to one account, so you can wear a heavier Pixel Watch during the day and sleep in the Edge at night. The Edge also tracks blood pressure trends, which the Charge 6 doesn't. The Charge 6 keeps NFC and Google Wallet, though, and it's [$124 at Walmart against $179 for the Edge](https://www.tomsguide.com/wellness/fitness-trackers/fitbit-edge-vs-fitbit-charge-6-which-google-fitness-tracker-wins). If you pay with your wrist, buy the older one.
