Source: [Tom's Guide](https://www.tomsguide.com/wellness/fitness-trackers/forget-the-apple-watch-your-next-wearable-could-be-an-ai-powered-apple-pin). - Expected 2027–2028 - Guide: https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap - Last updated: 2026-10-04 ## What will it have? - **Will it work with my phone?** It is built around one. Bloomberg describes an iPhone accessory rather than a standalone device, and there is no sign of Android support. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-it-work-with-my-phone)) - **Will the screen change?** There is no screen, and reports say that is deliberate. No display, no projector, no haptics: Apple is betting your iPhone handles anything that has to be shown to you. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-the-screen-change)) - **Will it work without my phone?** Barely. Its own chip is a low-power one for sensing and connectivity, and the paired iPhone does the AI, so on its own it can do very little. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-it-work-without-my-phone)) - **Will the camera be better?** Two cameras are reported, a standard one and a wide angle, both facing outward and always on. Reports differ on whether you can take an ordinary photo with them. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-the-camera-be-better)) - **Will it get a new chip?** A modest one on purpose. Reports describe a low-power chip that handles sensing and connectivity while the iPhone runs the AI. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-it-get-a-new-chip)) - **Will it run a new assistant?** It depends on one. Most of the reported uses need Apple's new Siri to work, and Gurman expects Visual Intelligence to run across all of Apple's coming wearables including this one. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-it-run-a-new-assistant)) - **What will it be made of?** A thin aluminium and glass disc about the size of an AirTag, on current reports, clipping to clothing or hanging from a cord. One button is expected to handle Siri, the camera, or both. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-what-will-it-be-made-of)) - **Will the battery last longer?** Nobody has reported this yet. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-the-battery-last-longer)) - **Will it cost more?** Nobody has reported this yet. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-it-cost-more)) - **Will it still handle a shower or a swim?** Nobody has reported this yet. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#can-will-it-still-handle-a-shower-or-a-swim)) ## Questions ### What is the expected price? No pricing has leaked. Apple will likely price it as an accessory rather than a subscription device, in line with how it has reported the pendant as an iPhone add-on rather than a standalone product. Source: [MacRumors](https://www.macrumors.com/2026/05/07/apple-still-working-on-pendant-report/). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#faq-what-is-the-expected-price)) ### When will the Apple AI Pendant be available? There is no date. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported in September 2026 that Apple has postponed the pendant, and Apple has never announced it. Source: [9to5Mac](https://9to5mac.com/2026/09/22/apple-has-reportedly-postponed-ai-pendant-product/). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#faq-when-will-the-apple-ai-pendant-be-available)) ### Has Apple officially announced the AI pendant? No. Mark Gurman at Bloomberg reported in February 2026 that the pendant is one of three AI wearables Apple has in development, alongside smart glasses and camera-equipped AirPods. The Information reported additional hardware details in January 2026. Apple has made no public announcement and the project could still be canceled. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#faq-has-apple-officially-announced-the-ai-pendant)) ### Will it work without an iPhone? No. The pendant is designed as an iPhone accessory rather than a standalone product. Reporting says it has its own chip but limited performance, and relies heavily on a paired iPhone for processing. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#faqs-will-it-work-without-an-iphone)) ### What will it actually do? The pendant's camera feeds visual context to Siri, and its microphone lets you use Siri voice commands without reaching for your phone. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/ai-pendants/apple-pendant/roadmap#faqs-what-will-it-actually-do)) ### How is it different from the Humane AI Pin? Gurman describes the pendant as reminiscent of the failed Humane AI Pin, but says it would be an iPhone accessory rather than a standalone product, unlike Humane's pin, which had its own display and laser projector.
