## What will it have? (today's facts are from Apple Vision Pro M5)

- **Will it cost more?** The cheaper route has closed rather than the price coming down. Gurman reported the lower cost Vision headset cancelled in May 2026, and The Elec says Samsung Display is winding down the cheaper micro-OLED panel it needed. ### When does Apple Vision Pro 2 come out?

2028 at the earliest, possibly 2029. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman wrote in his June 2026 newsletter that Apple needs to build something substantially lighter and cheaper before returning to headsets. Vision Products Group members have been reassigned to the smart glasses team. The category is, in Gurman's words, on ice. ### Should I buy Apple Vision Pro M5 now?

Only if you have a specific professional or creative use case today. Vision Pro 2 is two or more years away, so there is no short-term upgrade pressure. But at $3,699, after Apple raised the price from $3,499 in June 2026, and with no successor in sight, this is a long-term commitment to a product category Apple has deprioritized. ### What is the difference between Apple Vision Pro M2 and M5?

The M5 Vision Pro launched October 22, 2025 at $3,499, the same starting price as the outgoing M2 model. The M5 chip replaces the M2 chip, and reviewers found it renders about 10 percent more pixels for sharper visuals. Apple kept the same R1 chip for handling camera, sensor and microphone data. ### Why is Apple Vision Pro 2 delayed?

Two unsolved problems: weight and cost. Fixing weight means a fundamentally different internal architecture, likely moving the main chip to an external puck, the same strategy other headset makers are taking. ### Did Apple cancel Vision Pro?

No, but it has paused. Mark Gurman clarified that Apple is still working on a next-generation Vision Pro, but it won't launch before 2028-2029. The Vision Air cheaper model was cancelled.
