# Meta Glasses (2026) The text version of the iDevice Guide at https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap. Same data as the page, last updated 2026-09-28. > Meta Glasses add Capri and Nova frames, a LISA collection, and a $249 Adventurer (pre-order now, on sale October 23). Same AI and camera as Ray-Ban Meta. - Status: On sale - List price: $299 (The maker's own starting price.) Source: [9to5Google](https://9to5google.com/2026/06/23/meta-smart-glasses-no-ray-ban/). - Released Jun 23, 2026 (source: [Meta Newsroom](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/06/meta-essilorluxottica-partner-launch-meta-glasses/)) - Guide: https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap - Last updated: 2026-09-28 ## Can it do this? - **Do I need a subscription?** No. Meta One costs $19.99 a month and adds extras, and our own read is that the glasses work fully without it, the same as the rest of the line. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-do-i-need-a-subscription)) - **How long does the battery last?** It runs about 8 hours of mixed use, and the case carries another 40 hours. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-how-long-does-the-battery-last)) - **What does it cost?** It costs $299, the cheapest way into Meta AI glasses. That is $80 under Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 for the same chip and the same camera. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-what-does-it-cost)) - **Does it work with my phone?** Yes. It pairs with an iPhone or an Android phone, and works the same way on both. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-does-it-work-with-my-phone)) - **How heavy is it?** It weighs 53.77g in the standard size and 54.76g in the large, a few grams more than Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-how-heavy-is-it)) - **Can I get prescription lenses?** Yes. LensCrafters glazes them from -12.00 to +2.25, or you can swap the lenses for a prescription pair. If you need more than +2.25, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 goes to +6.00 at $379. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-can-i-get-prescription-lenses)) - **Will they fit my face?** Yes. The nose pads adjust three ways, so you can bend them to sit where you want on your bridge. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-will-they-fit-my-face)) - **Is it built for sport?** No. It is an everyday frame. Nothing stops you wearing it to the gym, but it is not made to grip through a run. For the same camera and AI in a frame built for movement, look at the Oakley Meta Vanguard at $499. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-is-it-built-for-sport)) - **Can I take a photo without using my hands?** Yes. Say the word and it shoots, or press the camera button on the frame when you would rather not speak. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-can-i-take-a-photo-without-using-my-hands)) - **Does it work without my phone?** No. It needs your phone for the connection and for the AI, so it is not a fully standalone pair of smart glasses. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-does-it-work-without-my-phone)) - **How good is the camera?** It shoots on a 12MP camera, the same one the rest of the Meta line uses, so the $299 price does not cost you picture quality. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-how-good-is-the-camera)) - **What video can it shoot?** It shoots 3K Ultra HD at 30fps at its highest setting, which is the top of the Meta line. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-what-video-can-it-shoot)) - **How does it connect?** It connects over Bluetooth 5.3 to your phone, and Wi-Fi 6 for moving photos and video across. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-how-does-it-connect)) - **What chip is inside?** It runs Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1. That is our own read rather than a published figure, and it is the chip every other current pair of Meta glasses uses. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#can-what-chip-is-inside)) ## Works with Works with iPhone and Android through the Meta AI app, but Meta hasn't listed every supported phone. - **Do Meta glasses work with an iPhone?** With a limit. The Starfire by Kylie Jenner edition starts at $399. Standard Meta Glasses frames (Fury and Adventurer) start at $299. Source: [Meta](https://www.meta.com/ai-glasses/compare/). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#faq-how-much-does-the-meta-glasses-kylie-jenner-starfire-cost)) ### Can people tell when Meta Glasses are recording? There is a capture LED on the front of every pair. Since the current generation, covering or tampering with it disables the camera, so the old trick of taping over it no longer works. Whether bystanders notice a small light in daylight is a separate, still-live complaint. Source: [UploadVR](https://www.uploadvr.com/meta-to-launch-smart-glasses-without-camera-as-privacy-backlash-grows/). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#faq-can-people-tell-when-meta-glasses-are-recording)) ### Should I buy Meta Glasses or Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3? Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is out now at $449, with more battery, a 6-mic array, and a 12 MP camera with 3K video. Meta Glasses are still the cheaper pick at $299, with the same core hardware as Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. Pick Gen 3 for the newest hardware, or Meta Glasses to save $150. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#faq-should-i-buy-meta-glasses-or-ray-ban-meta-gen-3)) ### What are the Meta Glasses? Meta Glasses are Meta's own-brand AI glasses, made with EssilorLuxottica: Adventurer, Fury and Starfire by Kylie Jenner. At Connect, Meta added two new styles, Capri and Nova, a LISA collection, and a new Adventurer with a plug-in case starting at $249, on sale October 23. Source: [Meta Newsroom](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/09/introducing-ray-ban-meta-audio-glasses-new-styles-plus-muse/). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#faqs-what-are-the-meta-glasses)) ### Do the Meta Glasses come with a charger? They come with a foldable charging case and a cleaning cloth. Meta's own compare page says the USB-C charging cable is not included. Source: [Meta](https://www.meta.com/ai-glasses/compare/). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#faqs-do-the-meta-glasses-come-with-a-charger)) ### How are Meta Glasses different from Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2? Meta Glasses and Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 both run a 12MP camera, roughly 8-hour battery and the same AI software, so this is hardware parity on the core, not an upgrade in either direction. What is different: Meta Glasses cost less ($299 against $379), add a customizable action button not on the Ray-Ban line, and carry a six-microphone array where Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 has five. You lose the Ray-Ban name and the Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner frame shapes for Meta's own three styles instead. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#faqs-how-are-meta-glasses-different-from-ray-ban-meta-gen-2)) ### What is the Kylie Jenner Starfire? The Starfire is a $399 model designed with Kylie Jenner, featuring an oval frame, a gem on the right lens, and a metal nose bridge that is easier to wipe makeup off. It includes a selectable AI voice option that sounds like Jenner, covering things like the battery readout and onboarding instructions. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/meta-glasses/roadmap#faqs-what-is-the-kylie-jenner-starfire)) ### Are Meta Glasses prescription compatible? Yes. All three models support prescription lenses via the new Rx Lens Swap program. You can take the frames to any optician after purchase to add prescription lenses without voiding the warranty.
