## Can it do this?

- **Does it measure blood pressure?** Yes, where it has been approved. Samsung's blood pressure feature is regulated market by market, so whether you get it depends on the country the watch is sold in. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-does-it-measure-blood-pressure))
- **What does it cost?** It costs $349. The larger 44mm case and the LTE version cost more. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-what-does-it-cost))
- **Does it read blood glucose?** No. Galaxy Watch 8 has no glucose sensor, and nothing on sale reads blood glucose from the wrist. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-does-it-read-blood-glucose))
- **Does it track sleep apnea?** Yes. Galaxy Watch 8 watches your breathing while you sleep and flags signs that you may be at risk. The screening is FDA-cleared, and it is a prompt to see a doctor rather than a diagnosis. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-does-it-track-sleep-apnea))
- **Can it get wet — shower, pool, swimming?** Yes. Galaxy Watch 8 is rated 5ATM and IP68, which covers the shower, the pool and the sea. It is not for scuba diving. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-can-it-get-wet-shower-pool-swimming))
- **Does it work with my phone?** Only if that phone runs Android. There is no iPhone app, so a Galaxy Watch and an iPhone do not pair at all. If you carry an iPhone, the Apple Watch Series 11 is the equivalent on that side. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-does-it-work-with-my-phone))
- **How heavy is it?** It weighs 30g in the 40mm case and 34g in the 44mm. The aluminium body is what keeps it that light. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-how-heavy-is-it))
- **How does it connect?** It connects over Wi-Fi, and the LTE version adds its own mobile connection so it works with the phone left at home. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-how-does-it-connect))
- **How sharp and bright is the screen?** The screen reaches 3000 nits at its brightest. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-how-sharp-and-bright-is-the-screen))
- **What chip is inside?** It runs Samsung's Exynos W1000, built on a 3nm process, which is the chip handling the watch's core computing. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-what-chip-is-inside))
- **Which AI assistant does it use?** It uses Samsung's Galaxy AI, surfaced through Samsung Health. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-which-ai-assistant-does-it-use))
- **What software does it run?** It runs Wear OS 6 with Samsung's One UI 8 Watch over the top. Wear OS is Google's, and the One UI layer is what makes a Galaxy Watch look and behave like a Samsung. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-what-software-does-it-run))
- **What is it made of?** It is aluminium, in Samsung's squircle case. That is what keeps it to 30g and $349, and it is what separates it from the titanium Galaxy Watch Ultra. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-what-is-it-made-of))
- **Does it do satellite SOS?** No. Galaxy Watch 8 has no satellite connection, so it needs your phone, Wi-Fi or LTE to call for help. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8#can-does-it-do-satellite-sos))
