## What will it have?

- **Will I need a subscription?** No. We expect Aura to work without a required subscription, with Gemini included as part of the Android XR experience. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-i-need-a-subscription))
- **Will it cost more?** Yes. Xreal says the base Aura will cost no more than $1,500 before tax, while the current One Pro costs $599. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-it-cost-more))
- **Will it work with my phone?** Aura does not need your phone to run because Android XR runs on its compute puck. Xreal has not clearly published full phone-pairing compatibility for iPhone and Android. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-it-work-with-my-phone))
- **Will the screen change?** Yes. Aura moves to a 70-degree see-through spatial display and can also take video input from a computer or handheld device through the compute puck. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-the-screen-change))
- **Will it be lighter?** Probably not compared with Xreal One Pro. Xreal says Aura weighs just under 95g without the puck, while One Pro weighs 87g. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-it-be-lighter))
- **Will I get prescription lenses?** Yes. Xreal confirms support for insertable prescription lenses. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-i-get-prescription-lenses))
- **Is it built for sport?** No. Aura is designed for spatial computing, and the wired compute puck makes it a poor fit for running or most gym use. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-is-it-built-for-sport))
- **Will it work without my phone?** Yes. Aura can run from its compute puck without a phone, but the puck must stay connected to the glasses. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-it-work-without-my-phone))
- **Will the camera be better?** We expect it to be better for AI vision rather than photography. Aura has three outward-facing cameras, with the centre camera handling capture and AI while the other two track your hands. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-the-camera-be-better))
- **Will the battery be bigger?** The compute puck has a 4,455mAh battery. The glasses are powered from the puck. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-the-battery-be-bigger))
- **Will it get a new chip?** Yes. Aura uses Xreal's X1S chip in the glasses and Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite platform in the compute puck. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-it-get-a-new-chip))
- **Will it run a new assistant?** Yes. Aura uses Google Gemini through Android XR, so Google's assistant is built into the software platform the glasses run. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-it-run-a-new-assistant))
- **What software will it run?** It will run Android XR, Google's Android platform for extended-reality devices rather than the standard phone version of Android. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-what-software-will-it-run))
- **Will it do AR?** Yes. Aura is a spatial AR device with a see-through display and 6DoF tracking, so digital content can stay anchored in your surroundings. ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#can-will-it-do-ar))

## Questions

### How much does Project Aura cost?

XREAL says the final retail price will be no more than US$1,500 before tax. That is a ceiling rather than a confirmed retail price, so it could land lower. The $99 Launch Credit tier (worth $199 at launch) has sold out, and the live tier is a $199 Priority Deposit, fully refundable and applied toward the purchase. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faq-how-much-does-project-aura-cost))

### When does Xreal Project Aura release?

XREAL says Aura is coming in Fall 2026, and that shipping dates depend on the official launch in each region. Reservations are open now; an exact on-sale date has not been given. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faq-when-does-xreal-project-aura-release))

### Can I reserve or pre-order Project Aura?

Yes, through XREAL's website. XREAL says this is an early reservation, not a pre-order. The $299 Founder Priority Pass, limited to 2,000 reservations, sold out in 36 hours, as did the $99 Launch Credit tier. The remaining option is a $199 Priority Deposit, fully refundable before final purchase confirmation. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faq-can-i-reserve-or-pre-order-project-aura))

### What is Xreal Project Aura?

Project Aura is a pair of optical see-through AR glasses built by Xreal, running Android XR with Gemini AI. It features a 70-degree Sony Micro-OLED display at 1,920x1,200 per eye and refresh rates up to 120Hz. A pocket-sized compute puck handles the main processing and battery, keeping the glasses themselves lightweight. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/us/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faqs-what-is-xreal-project-aura))

### Does Project Aura need a phone?

No phone required, but the compute puck is. Aura is not standalone the way Snap Specs is; the puck connects to the glasses by cable and handles the processing. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/us/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faqs-does-project-aura-need-a-phone))

### What is the puck and do I have to carry it?

The compute puck is a phone-sized device that holds the Snapdragon processor, a 4,455mAh battery, and network connectivity. The glasses tether to it via a wired cable. You carry it in your pocket. It doubles as a trackpad for pointer input alongside hand tracking. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/us/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faqs-what-is-the-puck-and-do-i-have-to-carry-it))

### How is Project Aura different from Snap Spectacles?

Both are true AR glasses shipping in fall 2026, but they take different approaches. Snap Specs are fully standalone with no puck or tether and cost $2,195. Aura connects to a compute puck you carry, and Xreal says the final price will be no more than $1,500. Aura runs Android XR with Gemini; Snap Specs run Snap's own OS. Aura's field of view is 70 degrees against Snap's 51 degrees. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/us/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faqs-how-is-project-aura-different-from-snap-spectacles))

### What AI does Project Aura use?

Project Aura runs Gemini natively via Android XR. Gemini can see what you see, understand your context, and help through voice and multimodal AI. Source: [XREAL](https://www.xreal.com/us/aura). ([on the Guide](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses/xreal-aura/roadmap#faqs-what-ai-does-project-aura-use))
