> Meta deactivated two pick-up artist accounts with over a million followers each for posting covert Ray-Ban Meta footage, under rules it already had.

Meta has started removing Instagram accounts that use its own glasses to record strangers, after Business Insider reported the practice. Two pick-up artist accounts, each with more than a million followers, were deactivated under the bullying and harassment rules Meta already had on the books. Instagram's head put the standard plainly: the company does not want people "surreptitiously taking videos of other people". The videos ran from staged pickup encounters to footage taken in workplaces.

Enforcement after the fact is a strange remedy for a recording that already happened, and Digital Trends reads the crackdown as damage control rather than a fix. Lifehacker's advice is the tell, telling readers to look for thicker frames and the LED, which is what you do when the platform cannot help you in the moment.
