# Apple CEO John Ternus likens Vision Pro to the first personal computers

Clique TV's Mouloud Achour asked John Ternus whether Vision Pro is a test, a flop or the first step toward the future. Apple's new CEO didn't pick one. "But I think of it as like the early days of computers," he said. "It is the early days of a long journey." Surgeons are starting to use it in operations, he said, because it's "just a fundamentally better tool for them than a monitor" hanging over the table. Film crews use it for set development. He likened that to desktop publishing on the early Mac, when one industry found a job the computer could do and nothing else could. Tim Cook used to defend the headset as an "early adopter product."

He wasn't asked whether Apple will keep making Vision headsets, and he didn't say. The hardware hasn't changed since the M5 update, and Apple has since laid off staff in the Vision Pro group. The M5 Vision Pro still starts at $3,499. Apple hasn't announced a cheaper model or a successor.
