> Kosutami claims an Apple iRing is in development to compete with Oura and Samsung, though Bloomberg's Gurman has gone back and forth on whether Apple is serious about the category.

Leaker [Kosutami](https://x.com/kosutami_ito/status/2069913209256222724) posted four words on X yesterday: "iRing thing under development. What a surprise." The smart ring category has [grown fast](https://idevice.com/smart-ring-buyers-guide-2026-oura-samsung-ultrahuman-circula-1ea4e781). Oura commands the most brand recognition, and Samsung entered with the Galaxy Ring last year. A ring trades the Apple Watch's screen for a smaller, screenless sensor package you wear like jewelry. Similar to the reported [AI pendant it's working on](https://idevice.com/apple-pendant-ai-wearable-2027).

[Eddy Cue took over Apple's Health division](https://9to5mac.com/2025/10/09/apple-folds-health-and-fitness-into-services-splits-apple-watch-oversight/) late last year and has reportedly pushed for more aggressive health products. A ring fits that direction, but Apple first needs to get its [Glasses](https://idevice.com/smart-glasses-release-schedule-samsung-meta-snap-google-apple) out the door.
