> The October security patch is here for owners of the nearly $2,000 foldable. Android 17 is not, and Motorola has given no date.

Motorola's Razr Fold is getting the October 2026 security patch after sitting on August's, [Android Authority reported](https://www.androidauthority.com/motorola-razr-fold-android-17-update-delay-3732427/) from owners' posts on Reddit. The update is another maintenance release on Android 16, not the Android 17 upgrade owners have been waiting for.

Cheaper and older Motorola phones already run Android 17. Motorola has put the foldable's delay down to extra optimization work, with no stable date. For a phone that costs nearly $2,000, that's a long wait, so if Android 17 matters to you, judge the Razr Fold on the software it runs today.
