> Pico Space Pro has cleared the FCC, one of the last steps before a US launch, six days after ByteDance cancelled the Beijing event where it was due to be introduced. There is still no price, no release date and no new reveal date. Pico's only stated window is the fourth quarter of 2026.

Pico Space Pro has cleared the US Federal Communications Commission. The filings describe it as a Mixed Reality Computer, and FCC clearance is normally one of the last steps a company takes before it can sell electronics in the United States. UploadVR reported the filing first.

The headset was called Project Swan until recently, and it was due to be introduced on September 2 in Beijing. ByteDance, which owns Pico, called that event off a week before it was supposed to happen, and said it wanted more time on a major upgrade to the software experience. Six days after the date it cancelled, the hardware is through certification.

What Pico put in place of the reveal was a wider closed beta. Its Global Early Access Program now sends pre-production units and software to hand-picked applicants. The people who get a Space Pro this quarter are testers, not buyers.

The spec sheet is still partial, and the parts of it that are known sit at the top of the category. The displays are microOLED at 4,000 pixels per inch, averaging around 40 pixels per degree. There are two chips instead of one. Custom Pico silicon handles perception and imaging at a claimed 12 milliseconds of perception latency. A separate flagship processor is rated at more than double the CPU and GPU performance of the XR2 Gen 2. Road to VR published those figures alongside the FCC news.

Three things are missing, and they are the three a buyer needs. There is no price. There is no release date. There is no new date for the reveal either. The only window Pico has given is the fourth quarter of 2026, which leaves under four months for all three.

Pico says the delay is about software. The backdrop is a component shortage that has pushed memory and storage prices up this year and that reportedly now reaches Qualcomm processors as well. Pico has not connected the two.

Space Pro arrives into a category that has filled out since Apple shipped Vision Pro. Samsung's [Galaxy XR](https://idevice.com/head/samsung-galaxy-xr/roadmap) is on sale and is the first headset running Google's Android XR. Valve announced [Steam Frame](https://idevice.com/head/steam-frame/roadmap) and it still carries no price and no release date.

A certification is not a product. It says the radios passed, and that Pico may sell the headset in the United States when it chooses to. A reveal is where a price and a date get announced, and Pico called its one off without scheduling another.
