> Samsung launched the Galaxy W27 in China, a two-tone, gold-accented take on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra for business and luxury buyers. It starts at CNY 18,999 (about $2,850) with 512GB, and adds emergency calls and texts over the Tiantong satellite network.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy W27 in China, a gold-trimmed version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra that starts at CNY 18,999, about $2,850. [SamMobile reported the launch](https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-launches-w27-galaxy-z-fold-8-ultra-premium-version/) today. It won't be sold anywhere else.

Samsung pitches the W27 at business buyers and the luxury end of the market. It has a two-tone finish with gold accents and a "Heart to the World" emblem on the back. It comes in two colors, Jihu Blue and Jixia Hong. The 512GB model costs CNY 18,999 and the 1TB model CNY 21,999, roughly $3,300.

The inside screen is 8 inches and the outside screen is 6.5 inches, and both reach 3,000 nits and support HDR10+. The inside panel is 2,504 by 2,256 pixels, close to square, and the cover screen is 2,520 by 1,080. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy with 16GB of memory. The battery is 5,000mAh, with 45W charging by cable and 20W Qi2.2 wireless charging.

On the back there's a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom, plus two 10MP selfie cameras. The main and ultrawide cameras can film 8K video at 30 frames a second, and every camera does 4K at 60. The frame is aluminum, the cover screen sits under Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, and the phone is rated IP48 against dust and water.

One feature is built for China. The W27 can call and text emergency services over Tiantong, a Chinese satellite network, when there's no cell signal.

The fingerprint reader sits in the side button. For connections there's Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, ultra-wideband, NFC and a 5Gbps USB-C port.

It ships with Android 17 and One UI 9.0, and Samsung promises seven major Android updates. Galaxy AI and Samsung DeX are both included.

The roughly $2,850 figure is the Chinese list price converted, not a US price.

If you're shopping for a Fold 8 Ultra outside China, nothing changes for you. The W27 is Samsung's luxury take on that phone for one market, and the Fold 8 Ultra stays the one you can actually buy.
