# Samsung says Fold 8 sales in Europe are up 45% on the Fold 7

Samsung announced on October 22 that Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra sales in Europe were [45% higher than the Fold 7's](https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-z-fold-8-ultra-doubled-samsung-foldable-sales-europe-in-9-weeks/) over their first nine weeks on sale. Samsung also cited Google search trends, with searches for the Galaxy Z8 series in Europe 260% higher in September and searches for the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra 460% higher in the second week of the month.

That second week is when Apple announced the [iPhone Duo](https://idevice.com/phones/iphone-fold/roadmap). Samsung didn't name Apple in its announcement. New iPhone Duo orders in the U.S. [now ship in January](https://idevice.com/apple-asks-for-44-more-iphone-duos-as-u-s-orders-slip-to-january), and Apple is short of stock in many places heading into the holidays. The Fold 8 starts at €1,999 in Europe and the Fold 8 Ultra at €2,199, before discounts.
