> App code for the SM-R545, codenamed T1, lists 63mAh per earbud and a 595mAh case. The hook wraps around your ear.

Samsung's next Galaxy Buds hook over your ear, and now they come with numbers. Each earbud holds 63mAh and the charging case holds 595mAh.

Those figures sit in code inside Samsung's own app. SammyGuru found them while digging through an APK, the installer file for an Android app, alongside the model number SM-R545 and the internal codename T1. It's the pair earlier leaks called Galaxy Buds Canal 5. When [we wrote about Samsung's over-ear headphones in August](https://idevice.com/samsung-galaxy-h1-over-ear-headphones-app-code), an ear-hook design was just one of two unreleased Buds shapes that had surfaced, with no details attached. This is the first time anyone has put specifications to it.

The hook wraps around the outside of your ear. Regular Galaxy Buds sit in the ear canal, and the upcoming [Galaxy Buds On](https://idevice.com/earbuds/samsung-galaxy-buds-on/roadmap) clip onto the ear instead, so T1 is a third shape. Runners tend to pick hooks, because a hook holds a bud in place when a sealed one starts to work loose.

According to Samsung's instructions in the app, touching and holding the left earbud turns the volume down, and touching and holding the right one turns it up. You can change that in Settings. Touch and hold can also reject a call, switch between noise-control modes, or call up Gemini or Bixby, the two voice assistants on Samsung phones. There's an Earbud Fit Test as well.

T1 keeps Samsung's advanced audio quality menu, where the app tells you "Advanced quality options use more battery." The menu doesn't say which codecs the buds will handle. A codec is the format that carries sound over Bluetooth, and nothing in this code confirms Samsung's high-resolution Seamless Codec, 24-bit/96kHz playback or lossless audio.

The battery numbers are typical capacities, and they can still change before launch. They also don't turn into hours on their own. How long a charge lasts depends on the drivers, noise cancelling, the codec, the volume you listen at and how efficient the chip is, and the code gives away none of those. A 595mAh case suggests Samsung isn't going for a tiny, featherweight pair.

There's no name, price or date in the code. Samsung hasn't announced T1, and it would join the Galaxy Buds On and the Galaxy H1 headphones as the third unannounced audio product found in Samsung's own app code this year.
