> South Korea's radio regulator approved the SM-U700 on October 23, the second filing for Samsung's first Galaxy over-ear pair, though it adds no price, battery size or date.

SamMobile reported that South Korea's National Radio Research Agency certified Samsung's SM-U700 over-ear headphones on October 23. That's the model number Samsung is expected to sell as Galaxy Studio, and it's the second regulator to list it.

A TÜV Rheinland certificate for the SM-U700 came first, calling it a Bluetooth headset with a charging input of 5 volts at 1 amp. That's still the only hard number anyone has. The Korean approval adds no battery size, no price and no photo of the hardware.

Samsung's app code called the headphones Galaxy H1 [back in August](https://idevice.com/samsung-galaxy-h1-over-ear-headphones-app-code). In October, Android developer @evowizz, who had the Galaxy Buds On name before Samsung used it, said they'd [launch as Galaxy Studio](https://idevice.com/samsungs-over-ear-headphones-are-reported-to-be-called-galaxy-studio). Samsung has since filed to trademark that name.

In September, [strings in Samsung's app](https://idevice.com/samsungs-galaxy-h1-headphones-get-head-tracking-and-conversation-mode) turned up head tracking, a Conversation mode, dedicated noise controls, touch gestures and an automatic power-off setting. SamMobile expects Bluetooth 6.1, which the Galaxy Buds 4 already use, along with Samsung's own SSC UHQ codec and a USB-C port for charging and wired listening. The feature list reported in August also had noise cancelling and automatic switching between your devices. Samsung hasn't confirmed any of it.

The last over-ear pair with Samsung's name on it was the Level On Wireless Pro in 2015.

Since then the company's audio has been earbuds, and its newest pair shows where a launch could start. The clip-on Galaxy Buds On go on sale in South Korea on October 27 for 299,000 won, about $220, before anywhere else. A Korean radio approval is exactly the paperwork a sale there needs.

Samsung has owned HARMAN since 2017, and HARMAN already sells over-ear headphones under JBL and AKG. Galaxy Studio would be the first pair from the company to carry the Galaxy name instead.

It would go up against Apple's [AirPods Max](https://idevice.com/headphones/apple-airpods-max/roadmap) and Sony's [WH-1000XM6](https://idevice.com/headphones/sony-wh-1000x/roadmap). Those pairs are judged on noise cancelling, comfort and battery life. A 5-watt charging rating and a radio approval don't say how Samsung's pair will do on any of them.

Samsung hasn't announced the headphones, a price or a launch date. If you need over-ear headphones for the holidays, buy from what's on the shelf. Galaxy Studio is closer than it was a month ago, but it still isn't something you can plan a purchase around.
