> Samsung hasn't acknowledged a defect, and a tight or sweaty strap can leave a rash that looks a lot like a burn. If you find a blister under your watch, take it off and have Samsung inspect it.

One Reddit user went to bed wearing a fully charged Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and woke up to a dead watch that wouldn't turn on and a red, burn-like mark on their wrist. [Android Authority found](https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-watch-overheating-wrist-burn-reports-3725942/) older threads on Reddit, Facebook and Samsung's community forums with the same complaint from owners of the Galaxy Watch 7, the [Galaxy Watch 8](https://idevice.com/smart-watches/samsung-galaxy-watch/roadmap/watch-8) and the Ultra models, including the Ultra 2. The photos show a circular red patch right under the sensor array, and the watches often drained their batteries overnight too.

Sweat, friction and a tight strap can cause contact dermatitis, a red rash that's easy to mistake for a burn. Fluid-filled blisters don't match a typical rash, though, and could be real burns. The cause isn't known yet, but the dead batteries fit a background process running out of control and heating one small spot, past the point where a watch normally throttles itself or shuts down. Samsung hasn't acknowledged any overheating defect. Its support staff usually send owners to its guidance on strap tightness and cleaning, and it offers to inspect any unit an owner suspects is faulty.
