> A tipster says Samsung will add 8GB versions of the S27 and S27+ next to the 12GB ones as memory prices climb, so the cheapest model may not be the one you picture. Storage speeds may differ across the line, and launch deals could shrink.

Last month's leak had the [Galaxy S27](https://idevice.com/phones/galaxy-s/roadmap) lineup keeping the same memory and storage options as the S26. Now tipster @kro_roe says Samsung will also sell the S27 and S27+ with 8GB of RAM, next to the 12GB versions that leaked before, SamMobile reported on October 20.

Memory chip prices have shot up, and the tip says the 12GB phones could cost more because of it. That would push up the starting price of both phones. An 8GB model gives Samsung a cheaper version to put at the bottom of the range, so the number on the ad stays in check while the 12GB versions climb.

The cheapest S27 would no longer be the same phone as the 12GB one most people picture when they hear the name, and the S27+ would split the same way.

If you want 12GB, plan to pay above the starting price, not at it.

The tipster also says Samsung will use different versions of UFS storage across the S27 lineup to manage costs, so some models will read and write files faster than others. An earlier tip from Lanzuk said the S27 Pro and Ultra move to UFS 5.1 storage and LPDDR6 memory. If both hold, the faster parts go to the two top phones and the S27 and S27+ get the slower ones.

At the top of the range, Samsung still plans a 1TB Galaxy S27 Ultra, according to the tip, but rising storage prices could make it cost more. That lines up with earlier reports that Samsung is planning price increases across the S27 lineup with the biggest jumps on the higher storage tiers. A September report said the S27 Pro offers 1TB of storage but stops at 12GB of RAM. If those reports hold, 12GB is the most memory you'd get on any S27 short of the Ultra.

The tipster says higher memory and storage costs could lead Samsung to scale back its storage upgrade promotions, swap them for smaller discounts and offer fewer launch perks. So the launch-week offers could be thinner this time, on top of higher prices.

Samsung hasn't announced the S27 or said a word about its memory, and reports put the launch in early 2027. If you're planning to buy one, check the RAM on the exact model behind the starting price before you order, and don't count on a free storage upgrade to soften a higher price.
