> Apple's first foldable is also the heaviest one on sale, and Samsung's costs less.

Samsung built its foldable identity around the S Pen and then dropped stylus support entirely with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It was also the first company to hide a selfie camera under a foldable's inner screen, and it axed that on the same generation. The [iPhone Duo](https://idevice.com/phones/iphone-fold/roadmap) arrives with both. Apple Pencil works on the inner and the outer display, an under-display camera sits behind the inner screen, and the phone is rated IP68 against the Fold 8's IP48, which only keeps out solid objects of 1mm and larger. Digital Trends [listed five places](https://www.digitaltrends.com/phones/iphone-duo-hits-the-galaxy-z-fold-8-where-it-hurts-the-most/) where the Duo has the edge.

Seven years of Samsung foldables have gone into hinges, screens and software, and Apple has turned up with the heavier phone. The Duo [measures 11.3mm thick closed and weighs 254 grams](https://9to5google.com/2026/09/09/iphone-duo-thicker-and-heavier-than-basically-every-android-foldable/), against 201 grams and 9.7mm for the Fold 8 and 215 grams for the Fold 8 Ultra. It starts at $2,000, and the Fold 8 is cheaper. On battery, Apple claims 26 hours of streaming video on the 7.8-inch inner display and up to 37 hours on the outer one, which [works out roughly level with an iPhone 17 Pro](https://9to5mac.com/2026/09/09/iphone-18-pro-battery-life-compared-to-iphone-duo-and-iphone-17-pro/) if you live on the big screen.
