## What happened

XREAL launched the $299 a01 glasses under a new sub-brand, X by XREAL, arriving in the US in July 2026 with 1,600-nit displays and a 62-gram frame.

## Our take

XREAL's new a01 glasses cost $299, weigh 62 grams, and arrive in the US in July 2026 under a new sub-brand called X by XREAL. They're not as capable as XREAL's own $650 One Pro, the field of view is smaller and there's no auto-darkening lens, but they're brighter at 1,600 nits, lighter, and $150 cheaper than the next step up in XREAL's lineup. Swappable front frames let you switch between clear and sunglass-style lenses, which is a nice touch at this price. Road to VR flagged that the sub-brand name 'XBX' risks a trademark fight with Microsoft's Xbox, and XREAL already had to rename itself from Nreal in 2023 after a dispute with Epic Games.
