> xMEMS says its XMC-1200 micro fan cools 10C at 1W and fits in a glasses temple arm, with production a year out.

Heat is what stops smart glasses holding processor performance or recording for long. [Engadget](https://www.engadget.com/2218600/xmems-unveils-super-tiny-cooling-fan-that-fits-inside-smart-glasses/) on the part xMEMS thinks answers it: "The XMC-1200 measures just 46mm², which makes it possible to integrate into tight spots." It is built to sit inside a temple arm.

[Gizmodo](https://gizmodo.com/new-cooling-tech-could-pave-the-way-for-longer-smart-glasses-recording-2000784906): "Despite its size, xMEMS says it can deliver 10 degrees Celsius (or about 50 degrees Fahrenheit) of cooling at a 1W thermal load." Every figure here is the company's own, and production readiness is targeted at the fourth quarter of 2027, so the earliest glasses carrying one arrive in 2028.
