Mark Gurman says a dedicated AirPods app is not coming anytime soon, which means years of bolted-on features stay buried in a menu designed for hardware that did far less. The EU gets one genuinely new thing: the ability to set Google Cast as the default instead of AirPlay, forced by a law requiring Apple to open its devices to competing services.
