Samsung Confirms Galaxy Ring 2 Is in Development

The Short Version

Samsung's health chief confirmed a next-gen Galaxy Ring at VivaTech, hinting at better battery, improved sensors, and possible iPhone support -- though early 2027 is the most likely launch window.

Samsung's Dr. Hon Pak, the company's Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Health, confirmed a next-generation Galaxy Ring is in development in a Forbes interview at the VivaTech conference in Paris last week, though he was careful not to reveal timing or specifications. "We are working on the next generation. I can tell you that," he said.

Oura launched the Ring 5 this month, 40% smaller than its predecessor, and the original Galaxy Ring has been on the market for nearly two years without a hardware update.

Pak kept the upgrade details broad, playing down the hardware angle specifically. "If you look at the comparison of other rings, regardless of the competitor, the sensors are not that different right now," he said. "It's really about what services you create on the top layer." Supply chain sources cited by ETNews put the battery target at 9 to 10 days, up from seven on the current ring.

The Galaxy Ring only works with Android today, and when asked directly about iOS compatibility Pak didn't confirm it but didn't rule it out either. "I'm smiling but I can't say anything," he said. "I think you'll be very pleased with some of the releases and the upcoming news."

No model numbers have cleared any regulatory database, which is normally one of the first signals a product is close to shipping, making a July 22 Unpacked appearance unlikely. ETNews reported in May that a 2026 launch is "virtually impossible," with early 2027 the more realistic window.
