An origin story
At Unpacked in February 2023, Samsung announced an XR partnership with Google and Qualcomm, without naming a product or form factor. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon later told CNBC he wanted “everyone that has a phone to go buy companion glasses to go along with it.”
What followed was three years of hints and leaks. Below is the paper trail. Every outlet that moved the story, the spec it reported, and whether the next leak corroborated it, contradicted it, or added something new.
