The Short Version
Snap reportedly plans to ship AR Specs glasses at $2,500, beating Android XR to launch but pricing above Samsung's Galaxy XR by $700.
Snap reportedly beats Google's Android XR glasses to market, but at $2,500, it lands in the same price range as Apple's Vision Pro, a device most people found too expensive to justify. Snap sits $700 above Samsung's Galaxy XR and $1,000 below Vision Pro, which sounds like a strategy until you remember Snap has no clear use case to sell at that price. Meta owns 70% of the AR headset market right now, and Snap's newly spun-out Specs unit of roughly 100 people is trying to crack that with hardware alone. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo already said hardware alone won't win this.
