Apple is letting rival AIs run the show

iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 will allow users to set third-party AI services—including Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude—as defaults for Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and Image Playground, according to Bloomberg reporting on test builds. Apple has signed a deal with Google to use Gemini as a default option alongside existing OpenAI ChatGPT integration, and will introduce an Extensions framework letting any AI provider integrate with Siri and other Apple Intelligence tools.
