Project Aura is Xreal and Google's joint answer to what AR glasses look like when they actually work. A 70-degree optical see-through OLED display — the widest field of view in any consumer AR glasses — runs full Android XR with Gemini, while a pocket-sized compute puck handles the heavy processing so the glasses themselves stay light. It is the first third-party device to run Android XR outside Samsung, and the first AR glasses to earn hands-on praise from press at Google I/O 2026. Price and exact launch date are still unannounced, with consumer details expected at AWE 2026 in June. If Snap Spectacles are the standalone AR option, Aura is the puck-tethered Android XR alternative launching on the same 2026 timeline.
