Amazfit Active 2 vs Amazfit Active 3 Premium: which should you buy?
Get the Amazfit Active 3 Premium. It is the newer and better watch, and the clearest difference is the screen: Amazfit rates it at up to 3,000 nits against 2,000 nits for the Active 2, so you can read it in full sun. It also does more outdoors, with offline maps and directions on the wrist.
Who should get the Amazfit Active 3 Premium
Get the Active 3 Premium if you want a light everyday watch that takes running seriously. Amazfit gives it built-in running workouts, coached plans from a 5K to a marathon, and running power, plus heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature and sleep tracking with no subscription. It also carries free offline maps with turn-by-turn directions. On an iPhone it works with limits, so some features that need deeper phone access stay on Android.
Who should get the Amazfit Active 2
Get the Active 2 if you want the basics done well for very little. Amazfit says it recognizes gym exercises and counts reps, sets and rest on its own, and it tracks sleep and heart rate around the clock. It is light, simple and easy to live with. On an iPhone it works with limits, as the newer Active does.
The differences that matter
The screen is the change you notice every day, outdoors at noon and on a bright run. The Active 3 Premium also adds coached running plans and running power, which a runner will use from the first week.
The Active 2 still counts reps in the gym and tracks sleep well. If you lift more than you run, it gives up little, and it is a fine watch for the money.

If you can stretch to it, the newer watch is the one to own. Pick the Amazfit Active 3 Premium.
