Amazfit Balance 3 vs Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar: which should you buy?
Get the Amazfit Balance 3. It is the better watch for running and workouts, and it does almost everything the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar does for far less money. The Dual Solar is the watch for long trips without power, and only that job justifies its price.
Who should get the Amazfit Balance 3
Get the Balance 3 if you want one tough watch for the gym, the trail and the pool. Amazfit lists more than 180 workout modes, HYROX training tools and up to 21 days of typical battery, with dual-band GPS and offline maps. It is rated for swimming and freediving, and its case is built to take knocks. On an iPhone it works with limits, so some features that need deeper phone access stay on Android.
Who should get the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar
Get the T-Rex Dual Solar if you spend long stretches away from power. Amazfit says three hours of daily sun stretches a charge from 25 to as many as 51 days, and it works with an iPhone and with an Android phone. For a long trip with no outlet, solar charging is the feature that matters.
The differences that matter
Both are rated for freediving, with the Balance 3 certified for diving to 45 meters. In the water they are close.
The Dual Solar's party trick is its solar charging, which can stretch a charge to weeks more. If you live off the grid for long stretches, that matters. If you charge at home, it does not.
