HTC VIVE Eagle vs RayNeo iO: which should you buy?

The HTC VIVE Eagle and the RayNeo iO do different jobs. The HTC VIVE Eagle is camera glasses for photos, video and an assistant you hear. The RayNeo iO shows its answers on the lens, with no camera at all.

Who should get the HTC VIVE Eagle

Get the VIVE Eagle if you want camera and assistant glasses that look like ordinary frames. HTC gives it hands-free 12MP photos and 3K video, an assistant on Gemini or GPT, and live translation. It works with an iPhone and with an Android phone, and it suits people who want to capture and ask, not watch.

Who should get the RayNeo iO

Get the RayNeo iO if you want an assistant in your lens and nothing else on your face. RayNeo lists it at 33 grams, with free answers from RayNeo AI or Gemini shown on the lens and no camera on the frames. It also shows live translation as people talk, and it works with an iPhone and with an Android phone.

The differences that matter

Neither pair leads on the things we compare, so the job decides. If you want to capture what you see, it is the Eagle. If you want to read answers and translations without anyone wondering whether you are filming, it is the iO.

Both work with an iPhone and with an Android phone. The iO is very light, which matters for glasses you wear all day.

Smart glasses only work if you keep wearing them, so fit matters more than any spec. Try a pair on if you can, and check what prescription lenses will cost before you order. A pair that pinches your nose or slides down on a warm day will end up in a drawer, whatever it can do.
