Editorial Policy

iDevice covers phones, wearables and smart glasses. We are published by iDevice Media LLC and we are independently owned and funded. This page explains how we work.

How iDevice works

We track rumors and leaks about upcoming products. When a claim first appears, we credit the outlet or person who reported it first, not the sites that repeated it.

When a product is announced, we check each rumor against what the company actually said and grade it. Those grades build a public record of who got what right. You can see it in our Reporting Record, and the details are in our Methodology.

How we check sources

Every published fact traces to a source we have checked. We link to that source and name who published it.

Quotes are checked word for word. Our software compares each quoted sentence against the text of the source, and a quote is only marked as verified when it matches. We do not mark anything as verified by hand.

Rumors are labelled as rumors. We say who reported them and how sure the source was. We do not present a rumor as fact.

Independence and sponsorship

Brands may sponsor a Product Guide, and any sponsored Guide or ad is clearly labelled. A sponsor cannot change our comparisons, our grades or our verdicts.

How we collect information

When we collect news articles, we follow each site's robots.txt rules. We never get around a paywall or a login, and we never use archived copies to reach content a publisher has refused us. We link to the original story so readers can go there.

When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say what changed. Read our corrections policy.
