What this is made of

• The earbuds cleared FCC certification in September, which usually puts a launch weeks away

  Samsung's clip-on earbuds, model number SM-U600, passed Federal Communications Commission certification on 15 September. SamMobile found the filing, which also lists Bluetooth EDR, LE and Qualcomm High Speed modes. A device normally clears the FCC shortly before it goes on sale.

• India's BIS has certified the earbuds under model number SM-U600

  SammyGuru spotted the earbuds on India's BIS certification portal carrying model number SM-U600, a break from the R suffix Samsung has used on its previous hearables, and on Samsung's internal test servers in India, Korea, Vietnam and Malaysia running firmware U600XXU0AZI2. A regulatory certification does not name a date, but Samsung does not usually clear one long before a launch.
