Gesture control for your other Apple devices

What we’re expecting

Multiple patents describe finger gestures, tapping, twisting, pointing, to control Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and potentially Vision Pro. A 2023 patent covers skin-to-skin contact detection, a thumb touching fingers, as input, and a separate filing references a rotating outer band. It exists only in patents so far.

Apple filed a patent for a smart ring that tracks finger movements and skin-to-skin contact to control other devices, iPhones, iPads, Macs, TVs. A patent isn't a product, so don't clear shelf space yet, but Apple doesn't file these things randomly. Gesture control without touching a screen is useful for anyone who's ever wanted to skip a song without picking up their phone.

Floated by the rumor mill, but far from certain.
