Alibaba unveiled the Qwen Glasses N1 at an event in Hangzhou on October 13, with prices starting at 2,999 yuan (about $450) before discounts, Bloomberg reported. That's no cheaper than Meta's Ray-Ban glasses. Alibaba says the camera uses a 50MP sensor, where the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) has 12MP, and it rates the battery at 25 hours on standby and nine hours of music.
Meta's glasses have nothing like the N1's eye tracking. A tiny 1.7mm camera watches your gaze, so the assistant knows what you're looking at when you ask about it. Alibaba also uses it to scan your iris and confirm Alipay payments, say when you look at a QR code. A sensor on the bridge reads your temperature. Meta rates its newest Ray-Bans at up to nine hours on a charge, and Gizmodo's James Pero got about six hours of continuous music out of them.
