Can ScanWatch 2 take an ECG?
Yes. Rest a finger on the metal bezel and in 30 seconds the watch records a single-lead ECG and looks for atrial fibrillation. Withings says its ECG App is cleared by the FDA for that. It does not detect heart attacks or other arrhythmias, and it does not give a diagnosis.
Do I need a doctor to turn on the ECG in the US?
No. Since July 2025, US owners can switch on the ECG themselves, with no cardiologist sign-off. It is only for adults over 22.
Does it measure blood oxygen?
Yes. You can take a blood oxygen reading from your wrist whenever you want, and it takes about 30 seconds. Withings calls it a wellness feature, not a clinically validated one.
Does ScanWatch 2 track temperature?
Yes, 24/7, including overnight. Withings designed it to show changes from your usual temperature pattern. It is not a medical thermometer.
What sleep tracking does it do?
It tracks light and deep sleep, REM sleep, how long you sleep, interruptions and timing, plus overnight heart rate variability and a Breathing Quality Index. It also has a smart wake-up alarm.
Can I swim with ScanWatch 2?
Yes. Withings rates it 5 ATM (50m) and says you can swim, wash dishes or get splashed with it on. It is not for diving or snorkeling.
Does ScanWatch 2 have built-in GPS?
No. For runs, walks and rides it uses your phone's GPS over Bluetooth, so keep your phone with you and turn on its location settings.
How long does it take to charge?
About 2 hours on its docking station. Chargers from the first ScanWatch, the Steel HR and the ScanWatch Light do not fit it.
What comes in the box?
The watch, a Premium Sport wristband with a stainless steel buckle, a docking station, a USB-C to USB-A cable, a Quick Start Guide and a Product Guide.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Withings calls the watch's own data free. Withings+ is an add-on with cardiologist ECG reviews, scoring and guidance, and every purchase comes with one month of it free.

No. Withings says not to use ScanWatch 2 if you have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device.
