Apple is developing a screenless health and fitness tracker in the style of Whoop's wrist-worn band, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported. The prototypes pair a thin fabric band with a sensor-equipped computing module. The project is still in a technology investigation phase, and Apple hasn't decided whether to release it. Gurman put any release in 2028 at the earliest.
Tim Cook and Eddy Cue both back it. Cue took over Apple's health team last October, after Jeff Williams left, and he has pushed for wearables with simpler interfaces, like Whoop's band and the Oura Ring. The latest Apple Watch models already carry a readiness score and an estimate of biological age, two things Whoop and Oura offer. Gurman also reported that a major Apple Watch redesign could arrive as early as late 2027.
