Apple announced AirPods 5 on September 9, 2026, at the same event as the iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
Ahead of the event, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that two AirPods 5 models, one with active noise cancellation and one without, could be announced as early as September 9. The two versions replace the AirPods 4 lineup.
Pre-orders opened the same day, and the earbuds reach stores on September 18.
