Gemini now opens as a panel over your watch face instead of taking the whole screen. A multicolor animation glows behind it with a faint dot pattern near the bottom, and the microphone privacy indicator moves from the bottom of the screen to the top. Play Store screenshots for the Gemini app on Wear OS, Google’s smartwatch software, show a transcript of your prompt and a confirmation of whatever the assistant did with it. The answers are unchanged.
Version 1.36 of the app has rolled out widely through the Play Store, and installing it is not enough. The new look is switched on from Google’s side, and that switch is not widely flipped yet, so a fully updated watch can still open the old full-screen app. On Samsung hardware it is showing up first on the Galaxy Watch Ultra from 2024, and other watches running One UI 8 Watch may follow. Google first showed this design in May, on a Galaxy Watch 9. The watches started getting it this week.
