Apple is aiming for a mostly glass, curved iPhone with no cutouts in the screen for its 20th anniversary, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. He described glass on the front and back that curves into the sides, with a metal band in the middle.
MacRumors has reported rumors of curved glass on every side for an almost borderless look. It also reported Apple is testing a screen of roughly 6.96 inches.
That would be the first real change to the iPhone's outline in years. Apple has not announced the phone.

The curved glass is reportedly made on modified iPhone Air equipment
The leaker known as Fixed Focus Digital says the equipment built to make the iPhone Air's glass has been altered to turn out the more rounded glass parts the 20th-anniversary phone needs. Reusing a line that already exists rather than building one is what the leaker credits for the lower cost, and the same post says heat dissipation and thinness both improved. It follows an earlier report from the same leaker that a supplier had finished renovating a facility ahead of production, with build quality expected to land near the first iPhone Air.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple is aiming the 20th-anniversary iPhone at next September, with curved glass around all corners and edges and thinner bezels. MacRumors, repeating his report, notes the design has gone back and forth and could still be scaled back.
The smaller Pro model could get a 6.41-inch screen at about 2,686 by 1,236 pixels
Digital Chat Station puts the smaller 20th-anniversary Pro at 6.41 inches and about 2,686 by 1,236 pixels, up from 6.27 inches on the iPhone 18 Pro. MacRumors notes the resolution rises in step with the size, which would keep pixel density near 460 ppi.
Apple reportedly tested a 6.96-inch display for the 20th-anniversary model
Digital Chat Station reported Apple testing a roughly 6.96-inch display with the same aspect ratio as the iPhone 17 Pro Max for a 20th-anniversary model.
The design could be glass front and back with a metal band in the middle
Bloomberg reported that Apple is considering glass front and back panels with rounded sides and a metal band in the center after abandoning an all-glass concept.
