Mark Gurman's latest description of Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone puts glass on both the front and the back. That glass curves into the sides of the phone, "with a metal band in the middle," according to his reporting for Bloomberg.
Gurman has the phone arriving in September 2027, with curved glass around the corners and edges and thinner bezels around the screen. He reported it as the biggest design change since the iPhone X. His earlier description was of a "mostly glass, curved iPhone without any cutouts in the display."
Fixed Focus Digital, a leaker on Weibo, says the glass is made with the process Apple built for the iPhone Air, modified to handle more rounded parts. The leaker credits that reuse with lower costs, better heat dissipation and a thinner body.
Digital Chat Station, another Weibo leaker, has posted screen sizes for two Pro models. The smaller one gets a 6.41-inch display at 2,686 by 1,236 pixels, and the Pro Max a 6.96-inch panel at 2,912 by 1,340. Both are early test specs.
Gurman's description has no cutout in the display at all. Digital Chat Station says Apple is also testing a small hole-punch camera, like this year's Pro models.
